Pulse 2001
"Death is eternal loneliness "
Pulse is going to stick with me for a long time. Pulse is very bleak and at some points the story and this general feeling of crushing isolation itself becomes a chracter. Very unique concept on ghosts and their relation to the living. The soundtrack, limited amount of people on screen and the locations themselves all nail the feeling of loneliness. I don't think I will ever look at black mold the same wayTranslated from by -

Daniel Isn't Real 2019
Toxic demonic yaoi 🦭🦦. Jokes aside Daniel isn't real is such a memorable movie. The movie pairs the fear of loss of identity and control with very cool body horror imagery warping and changing a body into something unrecognisable. Patrick Schwarzenegger as Daniel is great in this movie and emobies the worst kind of toxic friend. The gradual shift in his preformance throughout the movie from a hidden rage simmering below the surface to outright mockery and pettiness. Overall Daniel isn't real is a standout movie that takes a age old trope of the evil imaginary friend in a memorable direction.

Shikoku 1999
Good mix of folk J-horror and drama. I honestly enjoyed the first half largely being a slow burn drama. The drama of this movie builds the backbone to the horror elements. Without the chracters having fears of being stuck in a place they hate, unspoken regrets and the gradual erosion of once strong friendships the second half in my opnion would fall flat fast. Like a lot of its J-horror siblings the supernatural is often birthed by tragedy. I'd recommend this movie if your in the mood for a slow burn melancholic supernatural movie. Plus the soundtrack is great!
