girlhood (and a boy) and jazz. bored girls that lack direction who all of a sudden find an unexpected passion in jazz by the intention of avoiding summer school. this is such a fresh way to portray girlhood, using jazz as a way to explore self-discovery, friendship, and passion. this is truly an uplifting film.
