  I remember seeing this as a kid and felt it was just a nightmare David Lynch wanted to impose on my poor mind.

  After viewing Eraserhead a few times, I believe it is an immensely personal tale. It portrays a man grappling with the "trauma" of first-time fatherhood. The bizarre concept of a living creature that is entirely dependent symbolizes the suffocating realization of what it means to be needed.
