Hard to talk about animation or Disney history without talking about this film. For what it has done for both is an understatement of how important of a film this is.
While some parts if it look a bit crudely drawn, it is quickly overshadowed by the true artistic achievement this is. You can definitely tell this film was created with the love, blood, sweat and tears of animation’s finest at the time all under the helm of one of animation and film’s definitive visionaries of all time.
Honestly, controversies asides, this was a fairly faithful adaptation that falls in line with other live action adaptations Disney has put out recently. With all of them, they have been so cookie cutter, copy and paste adaptations that the public seems to be tired of them unless it hits core nostalgia for them.
To me, the songs were good (some unnecessary but works), it hit alot of the key points/scenes that they have to recreate, and it brought a classic…
The film that started it all for me. This is one of my favorite films that I hold passionately close to my heart and nostalgia. This kicked off or blew open the superhero genre and brought the webslinger to the big screen.
Everything in this movie is great to me personally and while some aspects may not hold up overtime, it makes up for it in character development and storytelling.
Honestly a must watch for any comic fan or movie buff.
What more can be said about this movie that hasn’t been already. Its a cinema/animation masterpiece that everyone should be required to watch. The fact that Disney’s B team of animators produced it says it all of the masterpiece it is. Long live the king.
