This film taught me how to show-don’t-tell, be abundant with characterizing detail, and make relationships as well as a setting feel like humongous unknowns we’re only scratching the surface of. The kid locked out of school during a pre-lap. The principal’s flipping panel glasses. Sloan and Cameron holding hands. Ferris’s dad calling his coworker a bonehead. The Lion King 1994
It’s so dang evident how little people prioritize the screenplay in their film appreciation. This one’s so skeletal. And since I never saw it as a kid and have enjoyed much more aesthetically pleasing animation in my life the animation here can’t redeem this for me. It’s just my boy Elton and some really nice scenes here and there.
