Patlabor: The Movie 1989
“I’m not gonna install some totally unknown system!”
To me, PATLABOR is the best mech anime because it takes the time to show how exactly this technology would actually be used. Everything takes paperwork, upgrades, maintenance, and every decision has both real and bureaucratic consequences. All those huge bullets have to be reloaded by hand for gods sake.
To me it is so optimistic about the technology of the future, but only if it’s very well considered before implementation. It…

I consider myself to be a baseball fanatic. I try to watch as many games as possible and watch/read so much about the game. But I don’t think I would really GET this movie if I hadn’t started playing beer league softball last year. I don’t think you get that soft and fast “flow” of the game unless you’re on the field.

Holy cow this was incredible and man what a heartbreaker.
Watching this and Mickey 17 on the same day was a fun comparison. Two movies where our protagonists are just seen as a body and a means to an end. Maximus was just trying to get home to farm for gods sake.
I knew about the MF DOOM mask beforehand but it still definitely threw me for a loop.
