Urgently acted, annoyingly scored, ADHD edited (incoherently flipping between black & white and color), the hype surrounding the release of "Oppenheimer" disciplined audiences to stay in their seats and not yawn or cringe — and then leave the theatre as bobbleheads, all nodding in earnest agreement with the quote whores who suckered them into buying a ticket to this fiesta of tedium.

Perhaps the most uncanny aspect of this tidy film will always be its release date. What the filmmakers could never have anticipated (of course) was the immolation of Gaza and the bulldozing of the West Bank: all the immediate ways in which Netanyahu's psychotic IOF — as America-supplied and (im)morally supported — can be matched to the deranged behaviors of the bespoke regime that incarnated its sickest fantasies of itself in the persons of Rudolf and Hedwig…
