This movie had potential then took every wrong turn. The overall narrative was barely built out with little meaningful character development or clear origin story to what was even going on. Some of the directing choices shocked me. Deciding to put some jokes and smiles in the ending scene when all the parents had just died a few hours ago solidified how bad the directing in this film was.

The ending scene alone makes this movie 5/5 for me. The entire film was great, but it wasn’t until the very last scene that I felt the true power and message of the movie reveals itself. The way the director visually changes perspectives in the last scene from Stéphane to Thomas is subtle and breathtaking. Each expression that Thomas makes seems to convey the feeling within the words of the letter he left behind. The feeling of regret is an easy…
