On the face, it’s a beautiful piece of animation. Beneath the skin, it’s a dissection of and meditation on the Spider-Man narrative.
The thesis of the movie is when Miles expresses he wants people to stop telling him about how his story goes. I think this sums up the whole point.

I met Tommy at a showing of this movie. He held a Q&A beforehand. In one auditorium, we waited and listened to what he had to say. Then, we left that auditorium and heard what he had to say in the next auditorium. My friend kissed him on the cheek.
