tldr: i always thought people were bullshitting about movies being pretentious until i watched this movie. it feels like someone did a marathon of david lynch's movies and missed the point of what made those movies great.
it just tries so hard to be deep. i didn't get the vast majority of the references they make which would be fine if the characters didn't spend 30 excruciating minutes on each movie they bring up. mulholland drive makes plenty of references…

still tho that twist didnt really hit hard cuz the protagonist was a piece of shit the whole time and the hypnosis thing to explain how they fell in love was kind of stupid like the protagonist was just horny as fuck and had no moral compass…
