The Boy and the Heron 2023
I loved how normal it was until the very fast shift to Not Normal. Personally I didn’t like the pacing and the plot wasn’t my cup of tea but you can’t! you can’t! ignore how stunning the animation is. it’s absolutely remarkable. it’s game changing. it’s unique. it’s inspiring.

This is exactly what a movie turned musical turned movie should be. So many movie-musical-movie before this have absolutely scuffed their performance. *cough* heathers.
Don't worry, the costuming is better than you think it is. Most of the characters are actually dressing like high schoolers, it's refreshing.
There were some iconic moments from the musical and the og movie that were missed, but the overall pacing, performance, and vibe makes up for it. Every single actor did amazing and you could tell they all really loved their roles.
