From a boxing perspective this film hits some pretty high points when tapping into the hustle and motivation of the sport. However, there's a lot that lets this film down that I didn't see in past viewings. Some lazy writing that relies heavily on the edit to piece together. Not a really distinct or visually pleasing aesthetic, something that I believe comes with the sequel that Jordan directs himself. Strong reliance on homage to past films without doing enough to make this new one lived in and different. Kind of soulless for the majority of its run time.

Oh yeah... my pretentious gears are turning. Don't even say postmodernism around me right now bro...

What an adventure every single time. A film that's always a joy to experience no matter who's sitting next to you.
