This movie made my brain scream for a solid thirty minutes. I might not ever watch it again.

    ★★★

Color out of Space suffers from weak writing. The cast is fine, but it's the visuals and tone make it worth a watch.

But I'll be honest...I watched this to see Nick Cage do a Lovecraft adaptation.

Sapphire is a solid police procedural that faces the racial tensions of the times head on. It's a film that I kind of feel has returned to relevance in the era of Sociopolitical horror that we are currently living in. I can imagine it was a film that made people in England very uncomfortable in '59.

Tatum O'Neal was absolutely phenomenal in this pitch black comedy set in the Prohibition era. Stark black and white visuals with sharp contrast set the tone for this comedy about a con artist who adopts a former fling's daughter and teaches her the short con. It's funny, uncomfortable, and the ending is as sweet despite...well...i certainly wanted better for everyone even if this is what they wanted.

Great movie, and a solid start to my our adventures with the TCM Wine Club.
