Man, I love found footage horror! This was such a hidden gem! The buildup and pace were very even-handed and consistent without ever being boring. Pregnancy truly is a terrifying thing and I think this film captures the loneliness, physical pain, and fear attached to it. I also hated Kyle. I feel like he represented the quintessential “good guy” who’s not really that much of a good guy/is just mediocre. Another good example of how horror can thoughtfully meld the supernatural and the mental.

Just the trailer induced such terror in me as a thirteen-year-old, I cannot describe it. I couldn’t sleep for days after watching this trailer at a middle school sleepover and I was truly terrified of the dark. Watching it now, it feels a bit quaint, but not bad! The scene of the grandfather who had been shot in the hand and foot by an Israeli sniper was absolutely fucking gut wrenching… Watching him cry felt as if I was looking at my own Abuelo weep over his own shattered dreams.
