  "I'm in a world of shit... yes, but I am alive! And I am not afraid."

  I don't think there was a specificity that made this film so engrossing. Just a story, a fluidity, of war and all it encompasses. There's a start, there's brutality, there's death, there's loneliness, there's companionship, there's victory, and there is the never-dying spirit of a solider.

  Kubrick brilliantly shows how killers are created, born, and fabricated.
