Pistachio Wars 2024
When you watch Chinatown, beneath the intrigue and drama that keeps the plot moving, there’s a real sense of wanting to know what the actual mechanics of how something like “water theft” actually goes down. Pistachio Wars provides that. It fleshes out all of that behind the scenes scheming and somehow legal criminality that has turned water into a commodity in California and what that means for the regular people and the environment in affected areas. Nosferatu 2024
Felt it lacking a bit in soul. There was a quality of precision to it that made it feel a bit sterile, calculated. Like too many people were involved with the creative process.
And maybe nosferatu is really just not that interesting of a story in 2024. But as far as big budget blockbusters go, we could do a lot worse (see Gladiator 2 et al)Translated from by
