This movie hit me a lot differently yesterday than it did about 30 years ago.
First, just the grimy New York atmosphere is a character in itself - raw and real.
The horror aspects of the movie such as the disturbing faces from passing by vehicles or the body parts on the floor of the imagined hospital keep this movie engaging - but the real horror Jacob Singer experiences is reliving the all too vivid memories of a cherished past.…
I took my 9 year old son to this movie as I’ve done with part 1 and 2. All I can say is “thank you” to Jim Carey - you made me laugh when I was younger and impressed me with your dramatic expressions later in your career. Now I GET to see my son laugh with you (and me too) and I realize how precious you are in my lifetime. I hope you’re in Sonic 4!!
Perhaps I’m dead inside but new great comedies don’t seem to exist anymore. For the last decade I’ve ignored any “comedies” suggested to me because I know how it’ll play out - trivial garbage and surface comedy barely able to elicit a snicker.
