One of my favorite titles for any film. Requiem for a Dream truly is about the death and the mourning of a dream. It is a look at how our own self-destructive nature pushes us further from the dream that we strive for. We move in cycles, each one worse than the last, and yet we are unwilling to deviate from it, and we ignorantly think that the next cycle will finally bring us to that dream. This film is so much more than an (incredibly effective) anti-drug PSA.
