Absolutely fascinating, I really enjoyed it. I think this is a movie can really dig into on a symbolic level or just buckle up and enjoy the surface level wild ride of weirdness. It really works both ways. Beautiful black and white cinematography, and I love the choice of weird aspect ratio.
It is exceedingly difficult to make a movie about anyone, but especially a complex individual, without tending to ultimately portray them as "good" or "bad." Yet this film succeeds in a grand way, showing Oppenheimer as a man haunted by his actions, yet using them for his own benefit. Guilty about past decisions, yet always ready with a litany of justifications. This movie portrays complexity in such a compelling way, while at the same time of course building constant tension around the most destructive invention in human history.
Going to see it in IMAX 70mm was an incredible treat too!
A highly enjoyable Spaghetti Western, which has some interesting similarities to and notable departures from the Leone classics. Leone was responsible for the idea of this movie, and helped direct several scenes. His imprint is undoubtedly on the movie as whole, but often times with a comedic spin. If you've watched the classics and still want more, this film is a good next step.
