I have seen a number of McQueens films (albeit mostly the Small Axe anthology) but I feel like I've been reintroduced by this. It's so authentically raw and yet clinical. Not slow, despite holding onto shots a lot longer than most films have the confidence to pull off. The editing is a masterclass in holding the audiences gaze, forcing them to look at the unthinkable.
Anyway, fuck Margaret Thatcher once again

The topic and the control of its narrative is fascinating. Just not really my type of film and not what I want from a viewing is all

The hate I'm seeing on this is weird. This is a complex queer story, a dual character study and that is purposeful. I think it's also powerful. These dynamics are not simple nor is revenge or avengement healing. Fantastic contemporary British story and the kind of queer media I have been craving for years.

this film is such a beautiful homage to Chadwick Boseman. The final scene pulls all of it together and Letitia Wright's acting feels incredibly raw throughout the whole film. It's few flaws poked through in the Marvel-esque dialogue sequences, but the first act shines in ignoring those tropes. I cannot get over the sound design and use of soundtrack, it was so beautifully mixed. Honestly a beautiful film that only lacks because of the painfulness of recent Marvel projects.
