  Once a biting satire turned prophecy, and one of the scariest movies I’ve seen this year. A little messy, and really only held back by a dated romance plot.

  I think the only thing holding this back is the almost too familiar story. I respect Eggers for making a mostly faithful adaptation but it makes the movie feel like it’s on a leash at points. I would have liked to play around in this world a little more.
