I just wanted to share something with you guys - since joining Letterboxd, I've met so much nice people, and with the support, during my time on here I opened up about my experience being sexually assaulted, body image issues, and finding my sexuality, which I received tons of support from you guys, and it truly means the world to me.
It's also helped me a lot in the outside world, andβ¦
I always find analog horror to be one of the scariest types of horror personally, and films like Lake Mungo and Longlegs use it to near-perfection in a narrative format. I heard about this movie being one of the inspirations for a lot of analog horror, so surprise when I found out it kinda sucks. About halfway through the movie you can tell that the analog horror is just a gimmick to show as much depraved edgelord descriptions of sexuallyβ¦
I can only describe my theatre experience like when people saw Texas Chainsaw or The Exorcist back in the day - by the end everyone was scared out of their minds, all the side chatter had stopped, all the breathing had stopped, all the eating and drinking had stopped - just pure terror installed in everyone - including me. One of the scariest movies I've ever seen - I don't say that lightly.
