The 1/2 star is only for the cool alien but other than that, Wes Anderson once again squeezes in a star studded cast with a load of artsy fartsy shots to try make up for the complete lack of emotional depth in his characters and his plot. Every moment leading up to the Trinity Test mixed with Ludwig’s amazing score kept my blood pumping till they exploded the bomb. The eerie silence after all that build up left me feeling disturbed which encapsulates Roberts flip in morals as the reality of what he has done settles in and he is left feeling he has “blood on his hands”. I will say the movie felt a little too long as I personally believe less is more but Nolan’s masterful directing and Murphy’s exploding (sorry) talent once again delivers a searingly powerful movie.
