    At first, I loved it. It was a well-executed visual and emotional trip, one frame smoothly changing into another, quite engaging and unusual. Then, after the first half or less, it gets increasingly dull and monotonous. Simple ideas are unnecessarily outstretched and given higher importance than they are worth. Some scenes are repeated several times with no real need. Even though it seems like a “love it or hate it” kind of movie, it left me somewhere in the middle.

    As the movie goes, it raises question after question. Mostly ethical/moral questions, but also wondering why a character acted/responded in a certain way. The dialogues are weird and unrealistic, and therefore confusing. Eerie music adds to this state. And somewhere along this confusion the film manages to subtly erase the line between good and evil.

    It is certainly not a feel-good movie. Just like “Lobster” (another unforgettable movie of Yorgos Lanthimos), it leaves an unpleasant, depressive trace. However, managing to…

    While watching this movie, I kept thinking that I might've enjoyed it much more if it was about two kids (instead of adults) living across the hall and developing a friendship through sharing their dreamworlds, playing games full of imagination and cute naivety.
    In reality though, the movie offered unlikable characters for my taste and an overall unpleasant and unrelatable atmosphere.
    I appreciate the general idea of the movie and its creativity, but that's that.
    P.S. Main character's drawings, each showing a disaster in a fun, colourful way, for his "disasterology" calendar - didn't get it.

    It was a whole new experience to rewatch this movie (that I've seen many times since my childhood) on the big screen, in 3D. Very enjoyable. :)
