I often hear that there is no objective way to measure the quality of a specific piece of art. Let people like whatever they want. iT's alL sUBjeCtiVe. I am not one of these people. I don't say that out loud very often. People immediately assume that I want to deny them liking shitty things. That's funny to me. Clear and Present Danger is one of my favorite movies ever. The secret lies in how you like something. Phillip Noyce…

Falling Down 1993
I don’t like spring. The sudden explosion of life fries the circuitry of my senses. There are historical reasons too. The echoes of the first lockdown of the COVID pandemic try to reel me back into the stasis many of us felt trapped in during that strange time.

State Affairs 2009
The state of affairs of the political action thriller is not good. As a fan, I look beyond the US hegemony and only find despair. This celluloid based disappointment hails from France. Van Helsing 2004
A voice called out to me the other day. It reminded me that I have never completed a playthrough of one of my favorite games: Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption. I could never really quite wrap my head around its system and always ended up with shitty builds that ran out of steam by the time I reached London. Despite it all, it has easily managed becoming a comfort game for the same reason a film becomes a comfort movie.…

The Thing 1982
Fuck... Me... I almost missed out on a perfect movie because I kept horror at an arm's length. I resisted an instant favorite coming into my life because of a long history of debilitating nightmares and sleep paralysis. It is such an odd thing that I would listen with ravishing delight to the offerings of the underground metal scene, but bend over backwards before exploring the cinematic horror genre on my own.
My leap of faith was facilitated by a…
