  criminally bad. made the most digestible version of a (previously) (in the book) quite dark and interesting story.
  The songs are constantly interrupted by meaningless dialogue and the choreography was never given space to breath in long or wide shots - why so many cuts? why not trust your choreographer? how can this be well over 2hrs apparently to "give space to the relationships" and yet no relationship was interesting or nuanced in the slightest?

  p straightforward rendition of the material but a good version of that. lily rose depp star of the show. camera work and sfx not that interesting and would have liked a more imaginative engagement with this tale.

  after discussion, would like to appreciate: the exquisiteness of the beauty and how uncanny and unsettling it is (though would have liked a glimmer of this same beauty in the grotesqueness of orlok), the final image, "why have you killed these beautiful flowers"
