  I came into this with the idea that it would be similar to Kurt Vonnegut’s novel *Slaughterhouse-Five*. However, while both works use alien abduction as a vehicle to explore themes of PTSD, the film's approach is both heartbreaking and unsentimental. Demonstrating how childhood trauma can brutally impact us throughout our lives, it’s a provoking depiction of how those painful experiences can have differing consequences and manifestations
