Arrival 2016
Predictable movie pitting a blundering military complex against concerned academics. The actual linguistic challenge at the center of the movie is conveniently solved in montage. There is very little complexity on display here, though I suspect the trauma of the 2016 election was enough to cement this movie in a lot of peoples' hearts. The movie sets up a tragedy that is destined to happen from the first minute.
