  The Empty Man 2020

  When this came out, I assumed it was a creepypasta-stabbings cash grab and reflexively ignored it. That’s a shame, because it is far better than it has any business being. Cosmic horror, PKD paranoia, and hardboiled detective stylings come together in a way that feels novel in its approach but never tries to exceed its own reach. 
  Satisfyingly above average.

  Ghost World 2001

  The craziest thing about Ghost World is that ScarJo’s character was fully expecting to rent a one bedroom and living comfortably on a baristas wage, and no one thought this was untenable. 

  9/11 really fucked things up for the quirky teen coming of age film.
