    A magnificent piece of cinema and a relevant commentary on class and the prison system. I feel like the the description I’ve heard of this film is deceptive. When you hear the phrase life of crime, a 12 year old stealing a typewriter doesn’t exactly come to mind. I’m reminded of a clip of Barak Obama touring a prison circa 2012. Barak shares that some of these guys could’ve been him. The tone of the film is truly it’s brilliance. It subtlety depicts the working class struggles in a way reminiscent of De Sica. Also, beautifully shot. I love the framing, they make it look easy!

    I always wonder while watching cops shows and films if they are simply propaganda or something deeper. Is it a statement about the criminal justice system like The Night Of, is it artful like Seven or The X-Files? I’m on the fence about The Little Things.
