Overly ham-fisted from the outset. The entire thematic narrative had run dry by the third act. There were two major beats where it felt appropriate to end but instead overindulged into an obnoxious finale. Lots of style, but not much, well, don’t make me say it…

Sir Gawain’s journey may have been a fool’s errand but the filmmaking couldn’t be more humble. The dangerous red, sickly yellow, and poisonous green lightning each employed at the major events provide a rush of senses.  All the while, the score’s haunting vocals and percussion ushering us through the tale like a somber tour of a museum. Every word of the dialogue chosen with purpose. It’s a lengthy and solemn story- worth the watch if the mood strikes.
