Late Autumn 1960
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Just rewatched it directly after Late Spring. Ozu obviously created a structurally similar film, but taking place over a decade later with inverted gender relationships (and shot in bright color). In doing this the meaning and feeling of the film are changed. For example the final scene between Setsuko Hara and Mariko Okado (who is amazing!) parallels the extraordinary final scene between Chishu Ryu and Yumeji Tsukioka in Late Spring. But the relation forged seems different due to the background…

Night and Day 2008
A masterpiece. Best film I've seen about male self-deception since Vertigo.

Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach 1968
Huillet says that the sparks fly off the screen when you watch the musician's fingers fly sandwiching the music between documentary and fiction. Asks the question "Who could have made such music of genius?" and gives the Straub-Huillet answer: a person like you and me.
