A film that covers a decent amount of ground on why agribusinesses is bad, why regenerative agriculture is good, and the science and history behind both. However the flashy, star-studdded documentary trades any coherent analysis of the politics behind it all—such as what it would take to unseat agribusiness as the driver of our food system, or what movements currently/historically struggle towards that end—for Laura Dern waxing poetic about the soil, and a weird amount of “across the aisle” gesturing.…

I’ve never actually seen the previous Willy Wonka’s so take this from someone who is approaching the new installment somewhat fresh: this was a bad musical filled with the most insidiously confused class politics I’ve ever seen, emotionally vacant acting, and relentless motivic edging that finally releases into Chalamet’s drawn-out and uninspiring performance of “Pure Imagination”. In fact, the whole movie seems to revolve around the fact that all the general public remembers from the original movies is that song.…
