With every passing project Mike Flanagan has gotten progressively worse at writing dialogue, and it’s oh so evident here… to the point that some of this is borderline unwatchable. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny 2023
Beneath all the action, suspense, witty banter and Indiana Jones-y derring do, there’s a powerful drama about the passage of time, regret, and coming to terms with the loss and pain that life brings — and the fact that Ford and company decided to tell that story through the Indiana Jones franchise, and gave it some real time and attention (and not in a facile or manipulative way), should be applauded. Ford gives an incredible performance that touched me deeply.
And if you weren’t moved emotionally by that poignant and touching ending, then I don’t even know what to say.
