Officer on duty reflects the recent trend in Malayalam cinema which portrays unfiltered violence. Sai Pallavi carried this Film!
Although this is celebrated as SK's big break the real talent that hooked me to the screen was Sai Pallavi. Her 5 minutes of silence held stronger emotions than any scenes which screamed out loud. The malayali character of Indu didn't have to rely on half Malayalam dialogues, nobody really speaks like that. Monkey man was a movie i was eagerly waiting to watch in theaters. I had hoped the censor board would clear their certificate by some miracle, but to my disappointment it never did. It makes me happy to watch dev patel make a tribute to lineage without stereotyping just to create entertainment. The storyline is a rollercoaster, it captures the audiances attention from beginning to end. Although the first half leaves the audiances baffled and confused the second half catches up and hits hard. Although somewhere along the line the events of the story are similar to other Amal neerad movies the amazing acting makes you quickly forget about it all. The cinematography adds to the whole ambience of the film. The background sounds however was a bit off, at the attempt of creating eerie environment it blurred many dialogues and distracted the audiances from the storyline.Translated from by
