A couple plot points bugged me a little (“Why is Mickey the only expendable? Nobody else in all of humanity signed up for this job? And how did they create that translator so quickly?”), but the absurd nature of the story allowed me to ignore rational questions and enjoy the true heart of the film: the inter(and intra)personal relationships.
This isn’t a sci-fi film with heavy world-building and lore; it’s a love story! It’s a journey of literal self-discovery and forgiveness for one’s own cowardice and malice in response to trauma. And it’s also silly! What a marvelous viewing experience 🙂↔️
