so many good things about this film, but the thing that truly makes me lose my mind over it is that it was filmed and released during WWII. these events were unfolding in real time, and many of the actors themselves had recently fled Nazi Germany or Vichy France. those emotions during “La Marseillaise” were very, very real.Translated from by
