-- An exploration of an individual's identity that is not accepted by society, that is looked down upon, or the manifestations of which are seen as distasteful - even loathsome.
-- Wonderful use of cinematography to reflect this. The two leads are always interacting in settings devoid of other people, of course with a few exceptions. But, for the majority of the film they are alone in remote settings, and the few people they interact with they are forced to kill and eat. They feel separate, other.
