One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1975
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
If Jack Nicholson knows how to do one thing, it’s to play the hell out of an asshole.
Pacing was honestly slow as hell. Most of the action happens in the end, when Mac invites to girls to the hospital. After that, all hell breaks loose. I think the action/conflict could’ve built quicker or some scenes could have been cut. I will say mise en scene and overall color correction is incredibly consistent throughout the film. Brad Dourif and Will Sampson are particular knockouts.

Fried Green Tomatoes 1991
One of my favorites. Excellent writing and casting. Kathy Bates is a knockout. This is a girl’s girl movie for sure.

Carol 2015
This movie was actually shot on film. It adds a nostalgia and feel to it that couldn’t have been captured on digital. The costuming is everything. No matter your sexuality, you have to admit that *those* scenes are sexy. Their intimacy is something that films rarely get right. The plot never gets old and the set design is timeless, despite it being set in the (50s?). A must see.

Elvis 2022
This film lacked the plot necessary to keep my attention. Not only that, but it seemed to say nothing in two and a half hours. The sole purpose of films is to tell stories, but this film seemed to be a nostalgia recreation, meaning, it’s purpose was to be pretty. I think the film’s strength was costuming and set design. The outfits were stunning, the sets different from each and every one.
I think Austin Butler’s performance was impressive, but was disappointed by Tom Hanks’.
