This is a hard one to write about because the subject - American Indians and white settlers fighting for ownership and identity over the American West - is anything but simple.
I prefaced watching this movie by reading movie critic Glenn Frankel's book on "The Searchers" - and that helped a great deal - giving some necessary historical background on several things; on the real-life capturing of white girl Cynthia Ann Parker by Comanche Indians (and eventual "rescue" by whites)…

To be catty, you could call "Their Finest" a chick flick squared, or a "woman's movie" within-a-movie, as it's about a young (beautiful) woman hired to write women's dialogue, for movies, for the war effort, in England, in 1940.
As it often happens when I bring my 1940s-loving self to a contemporary movie that's reminiscing about that time, I end up leaving a bit disappointed. Maybe a lot disappointed.
