It's kind of a horrible feeling, being swept away with the the sheer beauty and joy and happiness their family life radiates, with Rubens at the centre, because you know it's going to come crashing down. The music cuts, the colours dim, and everything suddenly feels cold and stiff.
I will say though that Brazil looks well fit, literally get me to a beach rn, and honest to god being middle class used to be such a Leng lifestyle... Meanwhile…
I liked that this movie explored so many different aspects of trauma (loss, failure, depression...) and it had such a profound emotional impact on me, but never did I feel so agonisingly heartbroken because there was some level of resolution and hope. So many movies at the moment leave you feeling broken- I enjoyed that at the end you feel a little bit hopeful for Paul and Angus.
Fuckin loves the intro as well. Fair play to the British film board or whatever they're called.

The return of Doctor Who's adipose is a big win for this film.
Also: really really love that they didn't use the word "multiverse"- what a win.
Just such beautifully crafted animation isn't it.
