A wonderful Godzilla movie from a child’s perspective and flintstones style music. This mirrors my childhood. I used to run around and imagine that I was in movies.
The opening theme ranks up there with the original movie’s score. Just that perfect mixture of 50s era science fiction with classic monster movie making. I really enjoyed this one and Godzilla’s victory leap just tops the cake for me.
I’ve been watching Crawford and Davis movies back to back and I gotta say, discovering this little beauty was the shining example of this whole experiement. What an incredible movie. It’s comically brilliant in its main character’s overwhelming self indulgence that twists and turns into her undoing. You will start this film chuckling and then find yourself moved beyond tears at many points. The characters all revolve around Franny Skeffington and her shenanigans. Up there with Mildred Pierce and Humoresque as a Crawford spectacle. Dazzling characters with very interesting twists and turns. This might as well have been an episode of Batman the animated series. It’s got that sweet sweet noir flavour that I love. There’s even a butler named Alfred to boot.
