Heat 1995
For the second New Year’s Day in a row I watched Heat with my girlfriend. I did not plan it. It was very different experience watching her get excited for upcoming scenes and dialogue.
The film is perfect. I could probably write a 15-30 page paper on it’s importance, craftsmanship and depth.

Le Corbeau 1943
Many older mystery films have had the plot and ending sort of spoiled due to other films using their plot devices and characters. When watching older mysteries one can easily see where it’s going and who is responsible. This however kept me guessing the entire time. I was convinced it one person until 5 minutes or less when I was convinced another person was “Le Corbeau” The use of lighting and shadows was also fantastic. It resembled The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari at points. I recommend this film if you want to be surprised at how relevant an 81 year old film can be today.
