Great performances, okay movie. I’m happy I didn’t hate it being a Dylan mega-fan.
It totally lacked in emotion of any sort; jumping so much time in between years made it so its impossible to get to experience any excitement or rush or any emotion really. Too polished, too clean, and I guess that works. Same story as any other musical biopic. James Mangold is a good director, does good enough a job to call him that; but his movies are just too “Hollywood” in the blandest-but-passable-box-checking predictable way, and Bob Dylan was anything but.
