I feel like...this movie promised a level of depth that it did not deliver. So many socio-economic themes (violence, corruption, gender and sexual identity, race) were introduced and then promptly left behind in lieu of the next topic. The lighting and colors of the scenes were beautiful, and the story itself was an emotional ride....but the way that so many topics were touched on and then moved aside didn't sit right with me.
