Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Didn’t have any expectations, yet I was underwhelmed. Felt devoid of any passion or excitement. There were some decent action set pieces peppered throughout, though the CGI in some of those segments looks subpar (considering the 200M+ budget).

The villains were weak, the plot was predictable and there was no stake to anything. The interactions between Harrison and Phoebe were the strongest part of the film by far.

Not as good as other Cagney movies like White Heat or Angels with Dirty Faces, but it is still engaging enough to keep you interested. Selling Cagney as a ladies man doesn’t seem believable

    One of my absolute favourites!

Even at my 4th viewing, I wasn’t bored or distracted for even a second. Many have claimed this to be a derivative of Goodfellas and, yes, there are a few similarities here and there, especially with the soundtrack with popular songs from the 70s, certain thematic elements, some of the recurring cast members and Scorsese’s filming style. However, Casino is a significantly different work of art that stands on its own merit.

    While Goodfellas concentrates…

I re-watched this for the 3rd or 4th time and it is still an enjoyable experience. There is so much to like in this film - Chris Pratt’s charismatic and humorous performance, Bradley Cooper’s fantastic voice acting as Rocket Raccoon, the chemistry amongst the main cast, the pacing, writing, visual effects and the amazing soundtrack. The plot is predictable yet simple (it’s a Marvel movie after all). Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 is a well-crafted space adventure and thus, a fun weekend watch.
