    Solid first half; the opening scene with the inverted Statue of Liberty sets the tone for what the film is primarily about, accompanied by a great score during the overture. Also a nice touch with the opening credits moving horizontally to mimic the movement of the filmstock in Vistavision.     Don't know what to say, cinema is alive and I'm grateful for having witnessed a Scorsese picture on the big screen.

    The depiction of evil I can only describe as haunting. De Niro orchestrating everything so matter-of-factly is simply chilling. Gladstone's performance was grounded, reacting to the horrors that unfold around her.

    Technically astounding as expected. Also important to note the role Thelma Schoonmaker plays in Marty's films. Her editing makes the mammoth runtime fly by.
