Annihilation 2018
Second viewing after original release in cinemas and this has aged well.
Stunning design with lots of excellent visual touches - from the first sight of the phenomenon reflected in the main characters eyes to the way chirality and mirroring show up in subtle and inventive ways throughout.
The cast are all solid but Natalie Portman portrays her character’s pain and guilt with excellence.
A film which perfectly treads the line between disturbing and magical.

La Chimera 2023
The whole film radiates with a sense of comfort, spookiness and magic akin to how one might feel awakening from a pleasant but strange dream. And despite the poverty, or even because of it, there is camaraderie and adventure in equal measure.
Some incredible shots and many playful moments which all add up to one of those films which stays with you a while after.
And the thin, dusty linen suits are iconic.
