This movie would be one of my all time favorites if it weren’t for all the racism. Mickey Rooney’s character serves absolutely no purpose. I am dying for this to be released with all his scenes cut out. Such a disgusting aspect of an otherwise charming and lovely film.

It is telling that there are so many comparisons of this film to Booksmart and Unpregnant, and while of course the films have their similarities, I think people keep citing those two films because there are no other films we have to compare it to. We as a culture are not used to seeing movies about teen girls/pregnancy scares that feel honest and realistic. I wish this film had existed when I was in high school.
