  I am pleasantly surprised that it doesn’t feel like Bong is taking himself too seriously after his Oscar success. Feels like he just wanted to have some fun with this one. I agree with majority of Bong fans that this plays as a culmination of his other works, but still very much stands alone. For those of you who went in expecting another Parasite, you might be sorely disappointed, which is why I’m glad my love for Bong started with Snowpiercer and Okja.

  About half way through I told my girlfriend I thought it was getting a little repetitive. Shortly after the elevator scene I realized the repetition really worked to drive home the devastation. It emphasizes just how much he’s busting his ass for that money in the pouring rain all day and by the end you wanna curl up and die.

  Is the point of this movie to villainize her abusers, or is it to fetishize the abuse? Ultimately it probably does both… Or perhaps it is an attempt at the former, but in the end fails to do so, therefore becomes the latter?
